Taken by Tomlinson Brothers Photography of Hannibal, Mo. Piece measures 15" x 17" in its mounted frame. The photographers, Herbert and Porter Tomlinson came to Hannibal in 1884. Herbert's daughter, Jean, later took over the business and operated it until her retirement in the 1950s. The house, now part of the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum, is located at 120 North Main St. In Hannibal. The frame house was constructed around 1843 or 1844. The John Marshall Clemens family lived here until leaving town in 1853. Following their departure, this became a rental property. In 1911, it was scheduled for demolition to make way for a larger building. -58835
