<B>Samuel Chase, Signer of the Declaration of Independence and Supreme Court Justice</B></I> Scarce signature "Samuel Chase," on a 4.5" x 1.5" slip of paper. Mounted, small hole and tear, but otherwise very clean with a bold, dark signature. Chase accompanied Franklin on his unsuccessful attempt to convince Canada to join the rebellion against Great Britain. He also holds the distinction of being the only high official to be impeached (but not convicted) in 1804 while serving on the Supreme Court. Together with Horace Greeley, closing portion of an autograph letter signed, 6.75" x 1.75", n.p., n.d. Irregularly cut with creases, but still bright and legible.
