Uncommon ALS in French, signed “Samuel,” one page, 6 x 4, June 20, 1983. In full (translated): “Thank you for your card of the 9th and for the attached. I asked John Calder if he could send you a copy of Worstward.” Nicely double-matted and framed with a portrait of the author to an overall size of 12 x 16.25. In fine condition. Worstward Ho was the penultimate novella by Beckett, written in 1983, parodying Charles Kingsley's novel Westward Ho! in its title. Calder was Beckett’s friend and main publisher of his prose texts in Britain after the success of Waiting for Godot on the London stage in 1955.
