<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4"><tr><td><em> Samson mark!</em></td></tr><tr> <td width="100%"> Porcelain figurine of a swan with outstretched wings, coiling neck, and parted beak with the Samson mark. Edme Samson was a 19th Century Paris porcelain manufacturer who devoted himself to making excellent quality copies of 18th Century porcelains. Samson sometimes used the marks of the porcelains he imitated and other times his own mark (different adaptations of the letter "S"). This swan has Samson's version of Meissen's crossed swords mark. Samson pieces were not meant to deceive as the marks he used were sometimes similar, but not identical, to the originals. This figurine has the mark under the swan's tail. This species is known as a mute swan (Cygnus Olor) for its silence, is white with an orange bill and black knob at its base. In good used condition with minor signs of wear as shown. Please ask questions, request additional photos and shipping costs prior to bidding.
