City of Hope ''Torch Bearer'' Award presented by the Los Angeles hospital to Sammy Davis, Jr. in 1955. Gilt statuette depicts a woman raising a torch above her head. Plaque at base is shaped like a star and is affixed to a marble base. Reads in full: ''1955 Torch Bearer Award to Sammy Davis Jr. / In Grateful Appreciation for Distinguished Services to The City of Hope / National Biennial Convention''. Round white marble base measures 6'' in diameter and statue stands 13.25'' tall. Minor tarnishing to statuette and sticker residue to marble, overall very good condition.
