This original poster is an advertisement for Samaritaine, a department store in Paris. The slogan at the top translates as Two Creators, one work of art. Those creators, or founders, are Ernest Cognacq and his wife Louise, and their portraits are pictured at the top on either side. En Progress Constants refers to the progress the store was making in expanding into additional buildings. The image portrays the busy intersection where the Samaritaine building stood, and still stands to this day, although closed for renovation.
