In 1986, to commemorate the Texas Sesquicentennial(1836-1986), the world's greatest sword maker, Wilkinson Sword, Ltd. of London, produced a small edition of three custom swords to honor the Alamo defenders and their three Texas commanders: General Sam Houston, Commander-in-Chief of the Army of the Republic of Texas, and his two Alamo commanders; Lt. Colonel William Barrett Travis (Texas Regulars), and Colonel James Bowie (Texas Volunteers). This is the third Sam Houston Commemorative sword numbered H0003. Made by Wilkinson, overall 40" length, engraved with gold inlay across 34" blade, mother-of-pearl handle, brass guard with acorns, and brass lion's head pommel.
