The present etching with aquatint in colors is one of 30 artist's proofs aside from the edition of 150 copies. It shows a view of the eponymous Place de la Concorde in Paris. Surrounded by buildings, two wells and several figures, the obelisk can be seen standing on the middle of the square. In the foreground a reclining female nude takes up the whole image width.

The etching with aquatint in colors is signed lower right in pencil ‘Dali’ and inscribed lower left in pencil ‘E.A.’. It is slightly mat-stained and bears small handling-creases. The overall condition is good. The plate measures 57.5 x 37.7 cm. The sheet measures 80 x 58 cm.

Salvador Dalí(1904–1989)

The Spanish painter, printmaker and sculptor Salvador Dalí was one of the main representatives of Surrealism. He studied from 1921 to 1926 at the Art Academy in Madrid. In 1929, Dalí joined the Surrealists in Paris. Today his dreamy works, influenced from the unconscious, are displayed in collections of important international museums. Salvador Dalí is known as one of the most famous artists of the 20th Century.
