Location: Salt Spring Valley District in Calaveras County. No. 93, issued for 20 shares to L Foorman. Signed by secretary Victor Rosenberg and president John Stephens. Dateline Jenny Lind (hand-written) 1864. Incorporated January 1864. Not cancelled. 25c Power of Att'y revenue stamp. Two eagle vignettes and one surface mining vignette. Bosqui & Co. print. Red underprint $315,000. Salt Spring Valley was near Copperopolis. Possibly became the Royal. Jenny Lind was located on the north bank of the Calaveras River and was first called Dry Diggins during the beginning of the California Gold Rush. Most of the placer mining was done along the hillsides above the river; later the river was mined with dredgers. In 1864 the population was said to be 400, half of them Chinese. Being on the main road from Stockton, it was also an important freighting center for the area.
