c1900 - Lot of 4 paper label bottles: 1 is an "Old Valley Whiskey," cylindrical quart bottle. Applied top, cork remnant still inside. Label indicates it was bottled by Sadler Mercantile Co. which was the predecessor to the Sadler Liquor Co. of SLC. Measures 11.5" tall x 3.5" dia. Excellent condition. 2 is a "Sadler Mercantile California Port XXXX." Neck label indicates "Contains One Pint & 9 Fluid Ounces." Light green cylindrical bottle, punt bottom, measures 12" tall x 3" dia. The label has the Sadler trademark logo. Label shows some age and chipping. 3 is a similar green cylindrical bottle, almost identical to item 2. The label is worn off and scattered, and every title except "Kentucky, Salt Lake," and what appears to read "Sherry" are not legible. 4 is a "Kingmaker Banquet Wine" from Smith-Faus Drug Co. This bottle is sealed, and nearly full of the original liquid, with no leakage. Ullage is still good, label is in almost excellent condition. Overall condition of the lot is very good. This is a very rare and distinctive lot. Sadler Mercantile was well known for selling alcoholic beverages in SLC, despite the Mormon influence. The proprietors were well liked, and considered pillars of the community. - Sanders Collection -62120
