<B>Salmon P. Chase Letter Signed as Secretary of the Treasury</B></I> “<I>S. P. Chase</B></I>”. One page, 8” x 6.5”, Washington, D. C. , December 4, 1861. In this brief letter Salmon P. Chase (1808-1873) approves the re-appointment of a James A. Neal as Deputy Collector and Inspector at Dover. The letter is toned with age, with a 1.75” split at the fold crease, else very good. The letter is sold with a later Chase signature dated May 23, 1870, on a 4.5” x 2.5” paper affixed to a larger backing sheet, very good. <I>Ex. Henry E.
