<B>Stirrup-spout Portrait Vessel</B></I><BR>Salinar (?)<BR>300 - 100 B.C.<BR>Ceramic with dark brown paint<BR> Height 8 1/4 in. Width 5 3/4 in.<BR><BR>Several features of this vessel are unusual, starting with the style of the image itself, which is closest to the facial type found on Salinar ceramics. That combined with the lipped stirrup-spout form suggests a relatively early date. Surface dents at the upper back, a slight torque and dent to the spout, and a surface almost granular in places all indicate that the firing of the vessel went awry.
