This lot features a great example of a Sako Finnbear L61R .270 Win. Rifle. The rifle features a 24 1/2" barrel, contrasting forend and grip cap, skip line checkering, monte carlo stock, leather sling, and Leopold scope. Sako rifles are known for their crisp triggers, well-fitted parts, and honest minute-of-angle accuracy. Introduced by Sako in 1961 for long cartridge shooting, the Finnbear quickly developed a reputation as one of the finest production rifles ever made. The Finnbear uses a pushfeed system with a reliable Mauser 98-style ejector. This rifle was owned by a hunter who completed the North American Wild Sheep Grand Slam. This is the rifle that took the last sheep needed, and has the scrotum wrapped on the rifle butt from that sheep. The rifle is in good condition, showing careful wear and handling. The bore exhibits good condition, with a bright bore and strong rifling. The rifle measures 45" L. The rifle is marked on the left of the receiver "Finnbear Made In Finland L61R No.92129" and on the top "Sako Cal. 270." The rifle was manufactured in 1974 and is a modern firearm.
