1881, Minnesota. Stock certificate for six shares issued to WILIAM MILNOR ROBERTS (1810-1881) American civil engineers. Roberts served as chief engineer of Northern Pacific Railroad and as president of the American Society of Civil Engineers. "In 1869 he made the reconnaissance for a route to the Northern Pacific Railroad which included the route through Montana. His report published by Jay Cooke served as the basis for financing the construction of the line to the Pacific coast and he served as chief engineer for the Northern Pacific Railroad from 1870 to 1879." Vignettes of steam paddleboat at upper left and upper right and of a locomotive at upper center. Punch cancelled. Some minor edge wear. Glue residue at left edge. Overall Fine.
