1897, Minnesota. Stock certificate for one hundred shares issued to and signed on verso by EDWARD STEPHEN HARKNESS (1874-1940) American philanthropist. Harkness Hall at Oberlin, Harkness Chapel at Connecticut College and the Butler Library at Columbia University were all made possible by his philanthropy. Harkness also established the Harkness Fellowship and founded the Pilgrim Trust Green / White. Vignette of a locomotive flanked by vignettes of steamships at top center. Punch and stamp cancellations do not affect Harkness’ signature. Overall Very Fine.
