This bank was in existence for only nine years before bowing out in 1917, and the town of St. Johns itself is long gone, having become a part of the City of Portland soon after this bank was established in 1908. Two notes are known from the bank, with one long ensconced in a major Oregon holding and this being the second, and the only Red Seal, with neither even having been publicly offered. In addition, this is a note filled with eye appeal, with brilliant red color in the overprint, pen signatures, and the retained selvage at the top. What wear there is is concentrated on one quarter of the back, which displays a bit of wallet staining that affects nothing. If ever there was an Oregon trophy Red Seal this is it, and all we suggest is that if you are serious about obtaining this note that you bring plenty of money and enough determination to get it bought. Very Fine-Extremely Fine.
Obtained from Roy Sparks, Jr. in September of 1992. (17,500-32,500 )

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour.
