Iran, Safavid Dynasty, Shah Isma'il I (AH 907-930 /1501-1524 AD), Silver 2 Shahi, Obv: Arabic legend the Shi'it Kalima Shahada within a square & twelve Imam's name in the margin, Rev: Persian legend "Shah Isma'il Bahadur Khan" within a foil & ruler's title in the margin, 17.80g, 27.00mm, no test mark, about very fine, Rare.
Note: At 14, Shah Isma'il, founder of the Safavid Dynasty, became Shah of Iran in 1501, expanding his rule over the country and parts of present-day Iraq. In 1510, his troops, led by Khanzada Begum's elder sister, defeated Sunni Uzbeks, liberating Khanzada. Shaibani's skull and a gold goblet were sent to Babur in 1511 by Isma'il. Khanzada Begum retained the title "Padshah Begum" throughout Humayun's early reign, governing the Mughal Harem.
