<B>Saddle Justice #3 (EC, 1948) CGC VF+ 8.5 Off-white pages.</B></I> Two milestones are noteworthy here: this is the first EC published by Bill Gaines to break away from the educational format established by his father, M. C. Gaines. It also has the first published EC work of future regular artist (and long-tenured editor of <B>Mad</B></I>) Al Feldstein. The book has a Johnny Craig cover, and other artists include H. C. Kiefer and even Stan ("Johnny Thunder") Aschmeier. This was the first issue of the title, with numbering continued from <B>Happy Houlihans</B></I>. Note that the higher-graded copies in CGC's census are just one notch above this one at 9.0, and note that no Gaines File copies of this book exist. Overstreet 2006 VF 8.0 value = $299; VF/NM 9.0 value = $467.
