SWISS 1900 MILITARY LUGER, BERN REWORK,

HOLSTER. Cal. 7.65mm Luger. S# 2839. An extremely interesting mid-production Swiss 1900 Military Luger, with relieved frame, reworked and now fitted with a Bern-type modified toggle train. The pistol started as a standard configuration M1900 with 4.75” barrel and Swiss Cross over chamber. At some point the gun was reworked, likely by the Bern Arsenal, to have an updated toggle train including the distinctive rear link with “U” notch. The frame with narrow unnumbered trigger and broad grip safety was updated to have a coil recoil spring. Full SN under barrel and forward frame, last two digits on most of the small parts, including both grips. Toggle train has all of its components accepted but unnumbered. MAGS: excellent original military; base with metallic discs. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: beautiful, crisp military holster/strap, manufacturer marked and dated “09” on obverse surface. Supple leather and intact, original stitching. CONDITION: approximately 96-97% arsenal blue as reworked with revised toggle train; most wear reflected by slight thinning of the front and backstrap. Freshened straw. Discreetly import marked using a fine laser etching method in an unobtrusive area. Bright, near-mirror bore. Manual operation allows cocking and discharge, though safety will not adequately block the sear. A fascinating Luger that updates many of the M1900 features with some of Bern’s latest designs. PROVENANCE: From the esteemed collection of Paul Regnier, Switzerland. (20-1422/LA). CURIO. $2,000-4,000.
