Superman's (Christopher Reeve) tunic and leggings from Sidney J. Furie's superhero sequel Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. Superman wore his costume throughout the film as he fought against Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) and his powerful "son" Nuclear Man (Mark Pillow), who was born after Superman's "genetic matrix" was attached to a nuclear weapon and launched into the Sun.

This iconic costume was custom-made for Reeve and comprises a long-sleeved tunic and a pair of leggings. Each item features a label from costumiers Bermans & Nathans, which reads "Christopher Reeve 4913 Walking Superman IV".

The tunic is made of polyamide, a specially blended synthetic fabric designed to provide some stretch while limiting visible signs of sweat during use under the heat of production lighting. The fabric was also designed to create a shimmering effect when illuminated. Superman's classic "S" logo is displayed in red and gold on the chest, and Velcro fastenings run down the back and under the crotch, with four black metal poppers placed along the shoulders to attach the cape. "C.W.1." is handwritten in black pen on the tunic's label and inside the right shoulder. The leggings are made of the same material and feature an elasticated waistband. "CW3" is handwritten in black pen on the label of the leggings. The lot displays wear from production use and age. Some of the stitching has become plucked and loose, and there are small areas of staining and discolouration.
