<B>STUNNING PETRIFIED WOOD COFFEE TABLE</B></I><BR> <I>Araucarioxylon arizonicum<BR>Triassic<BR>Chinle Formation, Arizona<BR>Crafted in the Alsace region of France</B></I><BR>Some of the largest and very finest specimens of ancient fossilized wood are to be found in the famous petrified forest of the Chinle Formation in Arizona, and this example is amongst the finest. A swirling riot of greens, reds, blues and yellows, dotted with pockets of quartz and even purple amethyst, stand testament to the millions of years in which solutions of silica loaded with iron and manganese seeped into the sunken tree, buried deep beneath volcanic ash where it slowly petrified to the incredibly vibrant mineral in which form we find it today. To offset this masterful display of nature's unconscious art, a French master cabinet-maker has crafted the perfect frame: a bleached cherry-wood border, cut to follow closely the contours of the original log, fitted flush to the highly polished petrified wood, and resulting in a spectacular piece of "natural" furniture.
