Manufactured in Wien, Austria circa 1910 by Joseph Heinige. Features 30" twist steel barrels with matted rib, Doll's Head lug, and extractors. Barrels are marked on rib in gold with a number "2" and "Jos. Heinige in Wein" with lovely gold scrollwork at breeches. Gun at one time must have been part of a set, being this one is labeled "2". Barrels are choked Full and Improved Cylinder with 2-1/2" chambers. case-hardened round body underlever action with full coverage engraving and gold work. Back action locks, serpentine hammers, and double triggers. Surround by full engraved and gold decorated steel trigger guard with pierced scroll horn tang grip. Action is decorated with floral goldwork and engraved with a duck in flight on left panel with left action plate engraved with retrieving dog. Floral gold work with "IN WIEN" in gold. Right side has quail scene with floral gold border. Right lock has gold floral border around fox scene. Top of gun has full coverage floral engraving with gold work and a "CW" with crown above and a gold "2" on tang. Figured walnut checkered stock with right hand cheekpiece and game scene engraved steel butt plate with oval tag engraved "7" on comb. Matching checkered splinter forearm with horn opening lever and steel floor engraved release lever. A truly masterpiece of gun building and engraving. LOP: 14". DAC: 1-1/4". DAH: 2-1/4". CONDITION
Retains 80% fading Damascus scene on barrels. 70% action case colors with sharp engraving and bright gold work. 80% stock finish with dulling varnish and slightly flattened checkering. Good bores with good mechanics.
