STEVENS, HARRY M.
(1855 - 1934) American businessman, a baseball stadium concessionaire often credited for helping invent the expression "hot dog", he grew his small stand in Brooklyn's Polo Grounds into an international sports catering giant. Especially rare T.L.S. "Harry M. Stevens" on his catering company letterhead, 1p. 4to., Madison Square Garden, N.Y., Sep. 1, 1904 to Sen. Edgar Brackett. Stevens sends a sworn statement concerning a lawsuit involving the sale of domestic gamebirds as being imported. Stevens hopes that the trial will conclude soon, adding: "…the winter season at Madison Square Garden promises to be most strenuous. I have been subjected to a lot of joking by my friends…and the case has really created a lot of interest in catering circles…I am subject to your order at any time…" Very good.
