McQueen starred in several films of quality during the 1960s, including The War Lover (1962), Love with the Proper Stranger (1963), Soldier in the Rain (1963), Baby, the Rain Must Fall (1965), and The Cincinnati Kid (1965). He received his only Oscar nomination for another war epic, The Sand Pebbles (1966), but his definitive role came as a world-weary detective solving a mob murder case in Bullitt (1968). In this film, McQueen’s real-life enthusiasm for racing came into play in a celebrated extended car chase through the streets of San Francisco for which McQueen himself acted as stunt driver. The stylish caper The Thomas Crown Affair (1968) cast McQueen against type as a wealthy and elegant thief, and it proved to be one of his most memorable performances.
Many more hit movies followed in the 1970s. In Sam Peckinpah’s The Getaway (1972), he costarred with Ali McGraw, who in 1973 became the second of his three wives; they divorced in 1978. Other films from this period included the well-received Papillon (1973) and the popular disaster movie The Towering Inferno (1974). However, McQueen did little to develop as an actor. He took a three-year hiatus to star in and produce a screen adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s stage play An Enemy of the People (1977), a drama about a scientist’s efforts to expose his community’s polluted water system. The film was decidedly a labour of love for the actor, but it was poorly received and barely released theatrically. In 1980 McQueen twice played a bounty hunter, in the western Tom Horn and in the contemporary action movie The Hunter, his final film.

The winning bidder agrees to pay a buyers premium of 33.5% on the hammer price. Plus Icollector 3% commission to Kristen Leigh auctions limited.
We ship worldwide, and accept payment by Visa and MasterCard.

1. All customers have the right to view any lot in advance of the auction via appointment and additionally make any enquiries about any lot as to any provenance we may have. All lots are second hand and aren’t brand new. The U.K. sale of goods 1979 act and The consumer U.K. Rights Act 2015 does not apply to our auction.

There are no warranties or representations of merchant-ability of fitness, nor of any other kind, express or implied. All items are available for your examination prior to bidding by appointment only. Your bidding will signify that you have examined the items as fully as desired, or that you have chosen not to examine them. Kristen Leighs auctions limited acts merely as an agent. The contract of sale is between the consigner and buyer. Kristen Leighs auctions limited holds no responsibility as to authenticity or condition of items.
If a lot is claimed by the Buyer to be a forgery it must be returned to the auction house in the same condition in which it was sold, within 14 days of the date shown on the tracking number. A receipt of the delivery date must be obtained by either a screen print of the couriers website, or the postage proof of delivery on the parcel, together with evidence from two independent experts. If the Auctioneer is satisfied that the claim is justified and that the Buyer is able to transfer a good and
marketable title to the Lot free from any third party claims, the Auctioneer will rescind the sale and refund any amount paid by the Buyer to the Auctioneer.
Any claim by the Buyer under this condition shall be limited to the amount paid by the Buyer to the Auctioneer for the Lot, and does not include auction platforms fees and card processing fees which must be claimed for independently by the customer to the bidding platform and the card company.
2. The auctioneer will be the final judge as to who is the successful bidder. In the event of a dispute, the auctioneer shall at his discretion decide whether or not to reopen the bidding. If an item is withdrawn from auction it will be offered again at the auctioneers discretion. Title to all merchandise shall pass to the successful bidder at the fall of the auctioneers hammer. The purchaser shall assume full responsibility for the lot purchased once title has passed. All lots in the catalogue are subject to a reserve, of which the amount is between Kristen Leighs auctions limited and the consigner. We reserve the right to bid up to the amount of reserve by placing successive or consecutive bids for a lot, or bid in response to other bidders.
POSTAGE:
3.The auction house has at any time the right to void the sale before any lots are shipped and will refund all monies paid within a reasonable amount of time normally within 2 weeks
3a. Invoices will be sent to the winning bidder within 5 days (for postage) of the close of the auction. And payment is due within 3 days of the invoice being sent.
SHIPPING.
A shipping quote is provided by Kristen Leighs auctions limited on invoices and automatically includes tracking, which can be tracked on your end to your address. Insurance isn't included and can be added at an extra cost by contacting us. Please note glass in frames isn't covered by insurance and can be replaced for perspex if need be.
4. In bidding on any lot offered, the bidder indicates acceptance of these terms and conditions. Title of each lot passes when the auctioneer or screen indicates sold. The bidder is responsible for knowing on which item he/she is bidding. If unsure the bidder should inquire or not bid. When becoming the winning bidder at auction, you have affected a contract and will be expected to pay for items in which you were evidenced to be the successful bidder.
All autographed lots (Excluding signed photos) with the hammer price being over the value of £150 will include a third party certificate of authenticity. A certificate of authenticity is an opinion expressed by a company as to it being genuine. We welcome all bidders to do their own research before bidding, and to ask questions before bidding as the winner of a lot will enter into a legally binding contract to pay for the lot. As in condition of a lot, we give no opinions, and items are sold as seen.
