His office is the great outdoors. It is no surprise that <I>Lands End </B></I>has selected Pastuhov to paint covers for their mail order catalogs.<BR><BR>Painting in the style of the California Impressionists, particularly Edgar Payne, his technique is alla prima, that is, with the first stroke. His brushwork is spontaneous, not labored or planned.<BR><BR>Pastuhov often writes a few sentences about the creation of each painting on the back of the canvas.<BR><BR>The following is inscribed by the artist verso:<BR><I>There was lots of weather when we were at Palo Duro. On a day I was working on this painting a huge storm thundered in. We walked quickly and just made our van when the sky opened up.
