STARR ARMS CARTRIDGE CARBINE IN VERY FINE ORIGINAL

CONDITION W/ BRITISH WAR DEPARTMENT MARKINGS. Cal. 52 Rimfire. S# 38363. 21" blued bbl. has S# on right side of milled area & flip up sight is secured into low position by screw. Bbl. is marked "Starr arms co Yonkers New York NY". An S w/ opposing broad arrows is on left side of bbl. & inspector's initials "STB" are at rear. Case hardened dropping & tilting block action has Starr patent information at top of tang. Starr Arms name & address are on lockplate w/ straight style hammer. A saddlering is affixed to left side. Walnut buttstock is iron mounted & has "WD" & broad arrow deeply stamped on right side of butt. Left side at grip has 2 "STB" inspector's marks along w/ "JD"(?). CONDITION: very fine. Bbl. retaining over 80% original blue w/ some high edge wear & thinning. Action retains 70-80% original case hardening color which has darkened somewhat. Stocks retain most of their original oil finish w/ numerous marks & minor dings. Bore is bright & shiny. Mechanically fine. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Kenneth Horn (Grandson of JC Higgins).
