A hand-drawn Ralph McQuarrie Death Star docking trench illustration by Ralph McQuarrie from the production of George Lucas' Star Wars: A New Hope. The Death Star used its tractor beam to pull the Millennium Falcon into its docking trench.

This oversize drawing was created by production illustrator and visual effects artist Ralph McQuarrie as a line art sketch for the large matte painting ultimately used in the scene. McQuarrie created a number of the matte paintings seen in the film and frequently used a drawing on vellum as the first step in his painting process. The piece is rendered in graphite on oversized vellum is mounted to art board, ready for framing. The fragile vellum has small tears throughout and tape applied around the edges. Dimensions: 101.75 cm x 61 cm x 0.75 cm (40" x 24" x 1/4")
