Stanton" as Secretary of War, 1p. 4to., Washington, July 24, 1862, concerning the promotion of future brevet brigadier general Henry L. Abbot to the rank of captain in the Corps of Topographical Engineers. Minor fold separation affects signature. Included are seven partly-printed documents, four with Edwin Stanton rubber stamp signatures, WILLIAM ENDICOTT (1826-900), JOHN C. KELTON (1828-893), promoting Abbot from Major through brevet colonel in the Corps of Engineers. Minor soiling and stains, else very good.
