Exceptional rarity! No. 176 Memorandum of Gold Bullion deposited by Teschemacher & Co, March 21st, 1851. H. F. Teschemacher is listed in Campell & Hoogs San Francisco Directory of February 1850 and Lecount & Strong's San Francisco directory for 1854 as a Real Estate Office located in Howards Building. This receipt measures 7 3/4 x 5 inches and is printed on light blue paper with black ink. there is no printers hallmark or information provided. Gold Dust Weight before melting 1502 dwt, Loss in melting 126 dwt, Nett 1376 dwt, Fineness .884 Commission 2 3/4% Net Proceeds $1,222.66. Almost no foxing, one fold lenghtwise across the receipt and a few small errant ink spots. This receipt is dated very early during the gold rush and is very rare . R8 (2 to 3 known) Moffatt's gold pieces dating from 1849 are among the most popular and well known of all the California pioneer coiners.
