Cal. 45-70. S# 106145. Bbl. 32 5/8". Blade front sight with Buffington rear sight. 1884 dated low arch breechblock. U.S. Springfield marked lockplate. 2-band fastened walnut stock with steel trapdoor buttplate having a ramrod bayonet. Left side of stock has a lightly visible "SWP/ 1891" cartouche. Right side of stock has black painted unit markings "117/ 55". CONDITION: metal finish has faded to gray showing areas of very light pitting. Stock has worn finish with dents and marks, having cracks and small chips below and around the lockplate. Sound action. Bore retains sound rifling showing areas of pitting most prevalent near the muzzle. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis. (01-27461/DS). ANTIQUE. $700-1,000.
