<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="4"><tr><td><em> AMAZING INGENUITY - TURNING EMPTY THREAD SPOOLS INTO SOMETHING ARTISTIC AND USEFUL</em></td></tr><tr> <td width="100%"> Like Tramp Art, Spool Art is just as sought after today. These
two
forms of folk art were made by self-taught craftsmen in the
1920's-1940's, using cast off materials like empty wooden
spools, wire and odd pieces of discarded wood. Out of these
unlikely materials, the craftsmen were able to make useful and
highly decorative items for themselves and their families. <P>
These one-of-a-kind pieces were discovered by folk-art
collectors and museums earlier in the 20th century, and are
considered as important pieces of this country's varied and
fascinating cultural life. It is precisely the hand-made, uneven
quality of these pieces that appeals so much to us now and
offers an escape from the mass-produced, sameness we see all
around us every day. <P>CONDITION: Although the 3-tier shelf
may look a bit rickety, it holds together well when hung on the
wall as a corner piece. There is nothing missing. A few rows of spools have been reinforced, but nothing replaced. The red paint
appears to be original. <P> If country informality is your style,
you will love this great example of American folk art! </td></tr><tr> <td> </td></tr><tr> <td>Reference #: CO285</td></tr><tr><td>Condition:Good</td></tr><tr><td>Year:1920's/1940'S</td></tr><tr><td>Country:USA</td></tr><tr><td>Maker:UNKNOWN</td></tr><tr><td>Height:20</td></tr><tr><td>Depth:15</td></tr><tr><td>Width:15</td></tr><tr><td>Weight:3</td></tr><tr><td>Title:SPOOL ART CORNER SHELF - RUSTIC FOLK ART</td></tr><tr><td>Style:Folk Art Primitive</td></tr><tr><td>Materials:wooden thread spools, wire, found wood</td></tr><tr><td>Location:Sharon, CT 06069</td></tr></table>
