SPECTACULAR KEYSTON BROTHERS SILVER PARADE SADDLE SET. Fine tooled black leather Keyston-made saddle with 14” seat. The front of the seat has the Keyston maker’s silver plate and the back of the cantle has a large silver plate engraved "T. C. Armstrong”. The entire wide pommel is covered in heavy silver that is beautifully engraved in complete-coverage floliate and floral patterns. The shank of the horn is silver-covered and engraved to match. The horn is covered with silver and engraved in a deep rope pattern with a center concho of engraved silver with overlaid gold horse head. The saddle has double skirts with all four corners having large L-shaped engraved silver plates centered at the corners with a large rope-edged concho with gold overlaid horse head. The back of the cantle and the corner of the fenders and the bottom of the tapaderos also have rope-edged conchos with gold overlaid horse heads. The edges of the skirts, fenders, and tapaderos are completely lined with engraved rope-edged conchos, separated by engraved silver double triangles. The jockeys and fenders are deeply tooled with foliate patterns. It is accompanied by its original set of flared serapes, about 37” long by 16” wide at the bottom, of heavy untooled black leather, having full borders of matching engraved rope-edge conchos with large conchos at the corners that have overlaid gold horse heads. Centered toward the bottom of the serapes is a starburst pattern of engraved silver diamonds and tiny conchos surrounding a large central concho. The bottoms of the serape have nine 1” silver balls hanging from chains, two are missing from one side. Also accompanying is its original martingale with matching silver work and a large plate at the front center having a central raised gold standing horse. It is also accompanied by its full silver covered bridle with Crockett bit and reins, along with its wide red-and-white cinch with tooled bosses. Lastly, accompanies is its original sheepskin two-piece blanket with black and white rolled edging. CONDITION: Generally very fine. The seat is slightly faded with brown showing through the black finish. The silver appears to be completely intact except for the two missing balls from the serape. There is some slight soil and sweat stains on the serape and martingale. Overall, the leather is supple, in need of a good cleaning. Each of the tapaderos has had something removed from the outside and a large nickeled "J” installed in its place. 4-50171 JR555
