SPECTACULAR 1920s THEATER LOBBY CANDY VENDING MACHINE.
More than likely, one would encounter a machine of this magnificence in a theater lobby, but one would not be surprised to see this style machine in a fancy hotel of the time period. Purported to be of the 1920s-30s vintage, this style machine was top end elegance at its finest, and perhaps the acme of vending machines. A spectacular art deco styled wooden cabinet with nickel plated trim and glass viewing windows allowed the patron ten different choices of confectionery delights. Typically used when the regular concession stands closed down between features (since theaters of the time only had a single film showing at a time. Exquisite and aesthetic form are further accentuated by the veneered wood grain, fanciful string inlay, and acid etched/reverse decorated glass inset panels. A machine of this nature from the original date of manufacture was extremely high end and obviously very costly to produce. It is a machine of great importance and presence even today, and certainly a centerpiece, and an invaluable addition to one's collection, regardless of one's personal collecting interests. A unique piece such as this would certainly accentuate even the most advanced collections, whether it be automobiles of the same period, art deco furniture, coin-op, early film collectors, roaring 20s aficionados, etc. SIZE: 72" h x 57" w x 18" d.
