SPACE FLIGHT AS CHRONICLED IN THE NEWS
An interesting collection of 13 original, mostly intact newspapers spanning the years 1962 to 1969, and reflecting much of excitement about American achievements in space flight. Includes a copy of the Feb. 21, 1962 New York Daily News proclaiming: "Real Fireball Hot Dive Ends Glenn's 3 Orbits; First Fotos After Ocean Pickup", while on the same day The Philadelphia Inquirer announces: "Glenn Flies 3 Orbits, Lands Safely, Feels Fine After a 'Fireball' Ride". Along with three newspapers regarding man's first walk on the moon, including two copies of the July 21, 1969 New York Times announcing: "MEN WALK ON MOON Astronauts Land On Plain; Collect Rocks, Plant Flag". New York's Daily News echoes the excitement, quoting Armstrong's famous line: 'One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap for Mankind". New Jersey's Star Ledger writes more simply: "OUR MEN WALK ON THE MOON". Along with six newspapers recording political news, such as Lyndon B. Johnson's bid to enact the Civil Rights Bill as told in The New York Times, Nov. 28, 1963, and two copies of the Times announcing Johnson's Thanksgiving address, Nov. 29, 1963. Expected wear to edges and browning thereon, otherwise good condition. Thirteen pieces.

Estimate: $100 - 150.
