This is a large and beautiful planter pot in purple slag glass. The pot was made by Sowerby's Ellison Glass Works, Ltd. Gateshead, England circa 1876. It is marked on the inside with English Registry Mark for class III (glass) with a date of March 6, 1876. The bottom is marked with a Crested Peacock head. This wonderful pot is 6" tall and 6" in diameter at the top and 4-1/2" at the bottom. Two of the six sides are embossed with a rope twist handle molded into the glass. Photo #3 shows one foot (at the top) does have a flat flake on the bottom that is about 1/2" x 1/2" in size but does not show when upright. The balance of the pot is in excellent condition with no other chips, flakes or cracks.
