Sterling (.950 ) silver mustard pot with original cobalt glass liner and gilded spoon / ladle, made Paris, France 1809-1819.<BR>Pot is 4 1/2inches high.<BR>Exceptional mustard pot stands on 3 paw feet extending to 3 caryatids or mask head and busts. Delicate openwork seperates them. The handle consists of scrolling acanthus leaves ending in a finely modelled and superbly detailed dog head. Pineapple finial on top of domed, hinged lid.<BR>The pot is fully hallmarked for Paris 1809 -1819 ie it has the Paris guarantee mark for those years, the .950 fineness mark (a rooster in a horizontal octogon) and a lozenge with the maker's mark. These marks are all repeated on the sides with a much enlarged maker's lozenge, featuring a lion with initials S E and B. <BR>The spoon or ladle is richly gold plated .950 silver. It is relatively large and does not originate with the pot. Measures 4 1/2inches in length. Arches from deep bowl to widened end. Hallmarked for Paris 1809-19, small items and maker's mark (a lozenge with crescent and 1).<BR>Original blue glass liner in excellent condition with no chips/cracks.<BR>Condition of all pieces is excellent.
