SILHOUETTTE. Hollow cut portrait of a young woman wearing a tortoise shell comb and having unusual decorative elements. An old label identifies her as Mary Butterfield, born 1808 in Sidney, Maine, along with her twin brother, Joseph. Charles Butterfield put the portrait in a blue velvet, oval case in 1913. A few stains and wrinkles. 3 1/2"h.
