SIGAUD de LA FOND, Joseph Aignan.- Précis historique et expérimental des phénomènes électriques depuis l'origine de cette découverte jusqu'à ce jour. Paris, s.n., 1781. In-8° : xvi-742-[2] pp. et 9 planches dépliantes (rousseurs sur le faux titre et le titre). Rel. de l'époque : plein veau clair marbré, dos fleuronné doré à nerfs et étiq. de cuir rouge, tr. rouges.
Edition originale d'un des plus importants ouvrages du physicien, chimiste et chirurgien gynécologue français Sigaud de la Fond (Bourges 1730-1810). Jésuite, il succéda en 1760 au collège Louis-le-Grand à l'abbé Nollet, premier vulgarisateur des phénomènes électriques, avant de professer à Bourges. Grand vulgarisateur lui-même, il répondit à la demande croissante au XVIIIe s. des amateurs de science en leur livrant des ouvrages composés d'un mélange d'explications schématiques de phénomènes physiques alliées à un goût pour le bizarre.
L'avertissement précise que les lecteurs qui voudront se procurer les appareils décrits dans l'ouvrage pourront s'adresser à Mr. Rouland, le neveu de l'auteur qui lui a succédé à la chaire à l'université et qui leur donnera des leçons particulières.

After full payment, buyers are kindly requested to take away their purchases immediately after the auction or at the bookshop the next Tuesday after the auction 230 av. Louise, from 2 pm until 6 pm.

Payment will be made in Euro's. We do not accept credit cards neither cheques whose total amount exceed 200 EUR or cheques not validated for higher sum.
Terms of sale require buyers to pay immediately for their purchases, which means that lots will be released to them only when full and cleared payment as been received by us
In addition to the hammer price, the buyer has to pay a buyer’s premium of 21%, V.A.T. inclusive, all strictly in cash and in Euro's (EUR)
In case of original art and if the principles of the author’s rights are applicable, an extra 4% must be paid on each hammer price of at least 1250 EUR

Returning an item after the striking of the hammer will not be accepted, whatever the reason put forward. Those items bought on order must be inspected within 8 days after receipt. Any return after this term will be refused.
All items of the catalogue with the mention « n.c. » (non collationné = not inspected) are not subject to return. Neither are those sold in lots (two items or more) works consisting in multiple volumes and periodicals or series.
If you cannot attend the auction, we can execute written bids on your behalf. To ensure a satisfactory service, it is necessary to make arrangements for the services at least one day before the sale.
