DOUBLE RIFLE BY SEARCY WITH SCOPE AND TRAVEL CASE. Cal. 500 NE. S# BL229. Butch Searcy answered the call for an affordable and dependable double rifle for African use and his products have a very good reputation. This rifle has 24" monobloc bbls. fitted with quarter rib holding 1 standing, 1 folding leaf express rear sight; and with milling cuts and block for Talley detachable scope rings. Ramp front sight base holds silver bead. Mid rib is engraved "B. Searcy & Co. Boron Ca. U.S.A." Cal. is engraved on top rear of left bbl. Serial number is on bbl. flats. There is no provision for a sling. Coin finished boxlock action with ornamental sideplates features non automatic safety, bushed strikers, reinforced action bar, and double triggers. Action and lockplates are engraved with about 30% coverage varying size scroll. Each lockplate is engraved "B. SEARCY & CO." Nicely streaked and lightly figured European walnut, steel capped pistol grip buttstock is well laid out with strong grain through grip and measures 14 1/2 over brown leather covered pad. Stock also features swept shadowline right hand cheekpiece and point pattern checkering at grip. Matching splinter SouthGate ejector forend has Deeley type release. Rifle is mounted with Leupold VX-III 1.5-5 scope with duplex reticle in detachable Talley rings. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: rifle is housed in aluminum "Americase" with combination lock which is lined in dark green velvet. Case contains a pair of aluminum snap caps, a bore snake and two keys. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. Appears to be test fired only and shows little evidence of ever having been on safari. Bbl., action, and stock retain nearly all of their original factory finishes with only one or two of the faintest handling and assembly marks. There is some light staining on right lockplate. Mechanically crisp. Scope is also very fine essentially "as new". Case also shows little external wear or marks. Interior does have some compressions and is rubbed through in lid from contact with rear sight. (22-1022/MGM). MODERN. $10,000-14,000.
