SHINICHI YUIZE
(b. 1923) Koto player and composer, considered one of the greatest Japanese musicians, awarded the Purple Ribbon Medal, one of Japan's highest bestowments. Rare and important color photo postcard depicted Shinichi with his 90-year-old mother, when awarded the coveted Purple Ribbon Medal (which he is wearing). Signed in Japanese and English. On verso is a good content A.L.S. in English, January 18, 1989, to musicologist Dr. Norman Levy. In full: "Hope you've been well and everything has been O.K. since I saw you last in N.Y. Showa has changed to 'Heisei' since Hirohito passed away. Soichi and I are coming to NY sometime in September with Kabuki Theatre (may be at Metropolitan Opera House). Looking forward to seeing you then. Love, Shinichi". Signed a third time in return address "S. Yuizi" above his address. Fine condition.
