This third published edition of Mary Shelley’s classic tale is significant for the inclusion of a fine frontispiece of Frankenstein fleeing in terror from his awakening creation – the first illustration to accompany the text – and for the author’s new introduction in which she explains more fully the circumstances of her creation. The additional engraved title-page provides her name as the author for the first time. An attractive set : rarely found complete, as here, with the usually discarded Schiller and Brown volumes.(2)ENGLISH LITERATURE; NOVELS; FICTION; WOMEN WRITERS; BENTLEY'S STANDARD NOVELS; ; ; ; ; ; ;
