SHEET SILVER AND GOLD SHIP BUILDER'S MODEL. A presentation ship model, manufactured of sheet silver and with gold vermeil highlights, paddleboxes with applied black and blue enameling, 14.5 x 4.5 x 8.75." Mounted on a stepped walnut plinth, with applied sterling silver plaque "Built for Charles Morgan in 1871 by Harlan and Hollingsworth, Tonnage 1338." The paddleboxes are engraved with an interlocking "JH." The Morgan Line plied the waters from New York to New Orleans. We have not been able to identify her, but given her size, and the fact that she is rigged with two masts, suggests she was part of Morgan's ocean-going fleet. EX. HENRY FORD MUSEUM.
