SHARPS & HANKINS ARMY CARBINE. Cal 52. 24” round bbl. No inspector cartouche. There are two plugged holes in the left side of the receiver. This was issued to Corp. Charles G. Van Schuyler of Co. A 3rd N.Y. Cavalry. Van Schuyler was promoted to sergeant in late 1861 and discharged July 16, 1864 after his term of enlistment expired. This record is in the Descriptive Roll books in the National Archives Record Group 94. SN 2591. CONDITION: Retains about 75% of the blue on the action, mixed with light surface rust and pitting, bbl has a brown patina. Stock has been repaired, sanded and refinished but is broken again at the rear of the upper tang. The swivel is missing at the butt. Action is fine. 4-49813 FS147
