SEPP DIETRICH L.S.A.H. RECORDED BATTLE REPORTS
SEPP DIETRICH L.S.A.H. RECORDED BATTLE REPORTS PRESENTED TO HITLER, CHRISTMAS, 1940
A very rare set recordings of a battle report from the western front presented as a Christmas present to Adolf Hitler by one of his favorite commanders, SS-Obergruppenfuhrer SEPP DIETRICH who was then leading Hitler's namesake Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler. In all there are 24 records, 19 still intact and playable. They are presented in two individual albums, each bound in cloth with light brown leather spines. Both bear identical calligraphic inscriptions: "Our Fuhrer Spoken Report on the Blitzkrieg in the West Christmas 1940". "Dietrich" is written in black ink above the title "SS Obergruppenfuhrer und Komandeur". The signature was either especially carefully signed by Dietrich so as to be easily read, or was more likely done by the calligrapher for the same reason. These volumes were removed from the library at the Reichs Chancellery in Berlin by an American officer serving as Chief of Staff at Headquarters, Air Command in Berlin, the father of our consignor. With a copy of His August 1, 1945 letter home on Adolf Hitler's letterhead mentioning having acquired "stuff to mail?some of it may be valuable?" Very good. With a copy of the consignor's notarized letter of provenance.
