SEDDON REPORTS ON THE COURSE OF THE WAR
Confederate imprint, Report of the Secretary of War, Richmond, Apr. 28, 1864, 37pp. 8vo. This imprint, the text of Seddon's report to Jefferson Davis, describe the course of the war for the prior three months and mentions Forrest's repulse of the Union overland attack on Mobile, Ulric Dahlgren's raid on Richmond, and also discusses administrative ovberhauls Seddon seeks. His last three pages are "patriotic" in content, the most telling lines reading: "We have burned the ships behind us. It will not do to fail...". Also included are recruiting statistics for each state, along with the number of deserters returned to the ranks. Toned a bit, otherwise very good.

Estimate: $100 - 150.
