A finely carved wood scrimshaw cane with sea monster head as handle, 6" high & 3.5" long with baleen & ivorysegments below handle and3.5" long, whale bone and baleen ferrule. Total length 35.25", nice old patina.Minor shrinkage crack in carved handle, which is filled with old resin, possibly original to cane. Rhine stone eyes,probably not original and one is missing.(EST 800-1000)
