A fine 19th century scrimshaw cane with 2" diameter x 2.8" high walrus ivory knob with a baleen disc mounted attop, and with ring turning near base. The knob is mounted atop a carved hexagonal piece of walrus ivory, which is1.25" high. This is mounted on a matching piece of black baleen, .5" high. The remaining portion of thehexagonal shaft is black palm wood, tapering to round, with MOP inlaid triangles on each face just below the handle.Ferrule is 1.4" brass, total length 35.5".Two pieces of MOP are missing but could easily be replaced, minor short, tight age lines in ivory & short crack inpalm at mount.(EST 800-1000)
