Considered the outstanding hill poem of the decade. It is a long poem in blank verse drawing on autobiographical reference and a very particular knowledge of local landscape and history, as well as on the literary tradition of the ‘place poem’(ODNB). Amwell was one of Izaac Walton's favourite fishing sites.ALSO WITH THIS LOT: (1) FARQUHAR ( George ). The only dramatic work for which he had a collaborator, Peter A. Motteux, a French dramatist on the English stage, and it was his only attempt at translation, an Anglicization of Jean de la Chapelle's Les carrosses d'Orléans.(2) [SHERIDAN ( Richard Brinsley )]. a comedy ; as it is performed at the Theatre-Royal in Drury-Lane. 1782.
