SCARCE WWII GERMAN G33/40 BOLT ACTION CARBINE.
Cal. 8x57 (8mm Mauser). S# 8450a. Bbl. 19 14/". Blade front sight with protective hood. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1000m. Scarce early German G33/40 Mauser carbine made for mountain troops. Receiver top has a 945 code for Brunn I and a 1940 date. Right side of the receiver has a faint Waffenamt that appears to be the proper eagle "63". Matching numbers on the bolt body, receiver, stock, and floorplate. Floorplate number is in a different font and was likely added later. Front of the trigger guard has faint "GERMANY" pre-68 import marking. Blued finish. Walnut stock set with handguard appears lighter in color. A cleaning rod is present. Underside of the stock has a crisp "WaA63" Waffenamt. Left side sling provisions with original leather sling. CONDITION: stock set shows the expected scattered dings and handling wear. Metal retains 90% of its original blue with some edge wear, light fading, and some light oxidation. Bright, very good bore, showing some minor frosting. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. Fred Novy, ASAC.
