SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Steyr. S# 4397d. Bbl. 5 1/8". Steyr-Hahn Model 1912 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Steyr under contract for Romania in 1914. Left side of the slide retains trace remnants of a crown over "Md.1912", followed by the S#, and "STEYR 1914", with a mostly illegible import mark present on the right. Right side of the trigger guard exhibits a Romanian eagle proof. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, save for on the bbl., which has been cleaned and is in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Dovetailed blade front sight, with fixed V-notch rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the frame and slide. Bbl. is mismatched (S# 9910m). CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some spots of light edge wear, with various degrees of pitting ranging from mild to moderate present beneath the bluing overall. Exterior of bbl. exhibits areas of cleaned heavy pitting. Bright bore, exhibiting moderate pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing and scattered marks from handling and storage, with a chip present on the left panel at the underside of the screw slot. (25-2376/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.
